Glendale came off over two weeks rest a little sluggish but played its intricate style of baseball, scoring in 4 of its 6 offensive innings, to ride to a 6 - 2 win. The team led off the game with consecutive bunt singles by T. Crass and N. Wagner, with both eventually scoring on a passed ball and sacrifice fly (H. Crass) respectively. Two errors by Franklin led to two more runs in the second inning. Defensively for Glendale, a Keiper to Lueken pick-off of a runner at first in the 2nd inning and two middle infield double plays in the 5th and 7th innings, effectively killed any offensive chances for Franklin. Pitcher Hunter Crass faced only 19 batters in 5 innings and had 3 strikeouts

Glendale - 7, Verona - 5
Glendale overcame a three run deficit, scoring late in the 5th and 6th innings to beat Verona. After Glendale tied the score, 1-1 on doubles by G. Kinzer and Z. Pagel in the 2nd Inning, Verona came up big in the third with a three-run homer to center by Reichart off starting pitcher G. Kinzer. Glendale rallied for 2 in the fifth with hits by Henken, Wagner and H. Crass. In the sixth, Lueken and Moser led off with consecutive singles and moved to 2nd and 3rd on a passed ball. On a 1-1 count, Henken then executed a perfect squeeze bunt scoring Lueken. Verona pitcher Kirch's attempted throw to first on the play ended up in right field allowing Moeser to score as well. T Crass followed with a single to right moving Henken to third. After T. Crass stole second, Wagner followed with a sharp single scoring two more. Defensively, Glendale had no errors, one double play and picked off two runners. Sully Kohnke got the victory, entering the game in the fourth and allowing only two hits in 3 1/3 innings. Kinzer and Kohnke combined for 10 strikeouts, 5 each. Henken got the save, forcing a ground ball and fly ball for the final two outs.
State Championship Game / Aug.1
Glendale - 9, Verona - 0
Glendale scored early and rode the solid pitching effort of Hunter Crass to win the State Junior League Championship, 9 - 0 over Verona. Singles by T. Crass, N. Wagner and G. Kinzer produced two runs in the first inning and walks to M. Moeser and B. Keiper followed by a clutch two out single by H. Crass resulted in three runs in the second. Glendale added two more in the third with M. Moeser and C. Jelenchick being brought in by hits from B. Keiper and T. Crass. Although plagued with 10 walks, Glendale pitchers Hunter Crass and Nolan Wagner struck out 10 and allowed only one hit. As in the previous match up, Ben Henken closed the game, producing the final two infield outs on 6 pitches.
The Glendale team now moves on to the Little League International Central Regional Yournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana playing its first game on August 8th.
