1A shopping bag holding clothing valued at $268 was taken from a locked car at Four Points by Sheraton, 8900 N. Kildeer Court, sometime before 4 p.m. Jan. 31. Damage to a window was $250.

2A purse and contents valued at more than $250 including prescription medicine was grabbed from a woman as she unloaded groceries in the 4300 block of West Dean Road about 7 p.m. Feb. 7 and about 8 p.m. Two males approached her, one grabbed her purse and they fled. When asked why she waited to call police, she said she had a warrant. The woman was arrested on that warrant from Elm Grove Police Department for obstruction.

3Police confiscated a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun and more than a dozen rounds of ammunition found in an abandoned and disabled car in the 9500 block of North Green Bay Road at 4 a.m. Feb. 9. A 24-year-old Brown Deer man, the car's owner, denied knowing about the gun telling police a friend had borrowed his car. However, he didn't know that friend's name or address.

4A 22-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for drunken driving and failure to wear a seat belt after stopped for driving without lights in the 9100 block of North 60th Street at 12:10 a.m. Feb. 9. His BAC was 0.15. A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman, a passenger, was cited for underage drinking. Her BAC was 0.12.

5A hit and run causing about $6,000 damage to a 2003 Chevy vehicle was reported in the 4200 block of North Rivers Edge Circle about 10:30 p.m. Feb. 10. The front of the vehicle was badly damaged and a Toyota emblem was found at the scene.

6A 17-year-old Brown Deer boy was arrested for possession of 0.6 grams of cocaine after a relative found it in his bedroom in the 7600 block of North 50th Street at 2:45 p.m. Feb. 10. The boy said a man handed him a plastic bag with the cocaine at the Airsoft Jungle Club, 1240 W. Pierce Street. He also said he had never used any drugs. The case is being investigated.

7A 15-year-old Brown Deer girl was arrested for disorderly conduct at Brown Deer Middle School, 5757 W. Dean Road, at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 11. The girl grabbed an employee's lanyard, who was escorting children, and blocked their way to a door. She said she was just "playing around" adding the man didn't respect her.

8A 24-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested on a Greendale warrant after parking in a handicap space without a permit at American TV, 6700 W. Brown Deer Road, at 7 p.m. Feb. 16. The woman admitted not having a permit. Her warrant, for theft and possession of a shielding device, was $822.

9A smartphone valued at $500 was taken from a gym bag at the YMCA, 9250 N. Green Bay Road, before 9 a.m. Feb. 12. GPS tracked the phone to the 4800 block of West 51st Boulevard. It has not been recovered.


10A 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, one of Fox Point, were arrested for underage drinking and one for an outstanding warrant after police followed their footsteps in the snow from the 8500 block of North Fox Croft Lane to the 8700 block of North Port Washington Road at 3:25 a.m. Feb. 22. Police had followed the footprints concerned that a car might have broken down and people were looking for help. The man had five prior convictions for underage drinking and the woman one prior conviction, and the warrant was issued for failure to appear for a prior underage drinking arrest.


11A 50-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and a warrant at Pick 'n Save, 1735 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 4:40 p.m. Feb. 14. After being arrested, he said he was having trouble breathing and was taken by ambulance to a hospital where a hold was put on him. About two hours later, hospital staff called police saying they were not able to "maintain custody of him" and he fled. At 10:30 p.m., the man was taken into custody after coming to the police department asking his personal items be turned over to his girlfriend.

12A woman reported her wallet valued at $800 with $200 cash, a $210 gift card and credit cards, was lost or stolen at Walgreens, 5400 N. Port Washington Road, at 5 p.m. Feb. 14. However, surveillance video shows the woman after making a purchase, putting her wallet back in her purse and leaving the store.

13Tools and copper wire valued at more than $1,500 were taken from a construction vehicle in the 5700 block of North Braeburn Lane about 11 a.m. Feb. 15. The vehicle's rear door was forced open to gain entry.

14An unknown male was caught on surveillance video taking a pair of sunglasses valued at $390 from Peale Vision, 695 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 11 a.m. Feb. 16. He was described as a male, about 55, 6-feet tall wearing a navy letterman's jacket.

15Two Milwaukee girls, 13 and 14, were arrested for theft of clothing valued at $390 at Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, at 2 p.m. Feb. 16. The girls entered a fitting room with the clothing and flat purses and exited with filled purses and an empty fitting room. They were turned over to their parents.

16Two Milwaukee girls, 14 and 15, were arrested for disorderly conduct at Bayshore Town Center, 5600 N. Port Washington Road, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16. Four girls including these two were yelling and swearing in public and when told to leave, two of the girls cooperated and apologized. The two arrested threatened a security guard, one saying, "I didn't do (expletive)."

17A 21-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for an outstanding Glendale warrant after police were called for a noise complaint to the Residence Inn, 7275 N. Port Washington Road, at 1:40 a.m. Feb. 17. The woman, who had signed a "no party" form, admitted renting the suite to host a party for her sister. There were more than a dozen people on the first level who were told to leave and did. Police then went to the loft level where they found five more people who also were told to leave and did. After they left, police found plastic bags holding 2 grams of marijuana, two handguns, a Steger M9 and a HiPoint CP, and more than a dozen rounds of ammunition under the mattress. When asked who these people were, the woman and her sister said they could not identify them because they were "friends of friends." They also denied knowing about the marijuana and guns.

A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was charged with a felony/criminal strangulation and suffocation, battery and disorderly conduct all domestic violence related after a witness saw him grab a woman's throat and hit her as they sat in a car in the 500 block of West Northshore Drive at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 17. The man ran from the car but was found a few blocks away and arrested. The victim, who had a swollen eye and neck abrasions, signed the 72-hour no contact order.

18A 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of marijuana and a warrant after being stopped for driving with a suspended license in the 2500 block of West Silver Spring Drive at 1:25 a.m. Feb. 18. The man admitted his license was suspended and after being arrested asked police to get his debit card which was in the center console. Police found the card and also two plastic bags holding 4.6 grams of marijuana.

Two more domestic violence incidents with arrests were reported this week.


19A 39-year-old Milwaukee man was charged in February for a burglary in the 1400 block of West Spruce Court sometime Jan. 21 to Jan. 25. The suspect was caught on surveillance video entering the home. The resident recognized the man, who along with his wife, had been guests in the resident's home. More than $1,000 cash, an unknown amount of jewelry and two rifles and a shotgun were taken. The guns have not been recovered but some of the jewelry has after the man was again caught on surveillance video pawning some of that jewelry at Eve Jewelry, 5011 W. Fond du Lac Avenue. The man was on parole for burglary and his parole agent had him taken into custody.


20A 25-year-old Green Bay man was arrested for intoxication behind the wheel of a car after he was reported breathing but nonresponsive at Bartlett Avenue and Newhall Street at 4 a.m. Feb. 13. The man was given medical treatment.

21Three boys, ages and residences not available, were banned for a year from Culver's, 1325 E. Capitol Drive, at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 15. The boys were being disorderly and would not leave.

22A $200 digital media player was reported taken from back stage at the Shorewood High School auditorium, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Feb. 7 and reported Feb. 15.

23Two 18-year-old men of Greendale and Cudahy and a 23-year-old man of Milwaukee were cited for disorderly conduct after fighting in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue at 9 p.m. Feb. 17. The men all knew each other and were visiting a friend. A police report stated that the fight was taped.

24A car reported stolen from the 3600 block of North Maryland Avenue on Feb. 14 was recovered in the 2400 block of East Belleview Avenue on Feb. 18. There was no report of damage.

25A customer reported that he had left $100 on the counter after using a speed zone check out line at Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., about 2 p.m. Feb. 18. Video is being checked and the case is under investigation.

26A backpack, duffle bag and contents valued at more than $200 were reported taken from an unlocked car in an unlocked garage in the 4100 block of North Downer Avenue at 10:45 a.m. Feb. 19.


27A 22-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for prowling after a report of him ringing a doorbell numerous times and then walking into a back yard in the 5900 block of North Bay Ridge Avenue at 11:20 p.m. Feb. 20. The man was found in the 100 block of East Belle Avenue, arrested and then dropped off in the 2500 block of West Capitol Drive.

28A person, age, residence and gender not released, was arrested for possession of marijuana, minor transporting alcohol, violation of his/her driver's license restrictions and driving without headlights in the 6300 block of North Lake Drive at 1:15 a.m. Feb. 23. A Thiensville woman and a Whitefish Bay man, both 18, and another person were arrested for underage drinking.

29An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of marijuana and failure to stop for a sign in the 5200 block of North Lake Drive at 9:45 p.m. Feb. 23.


Firefighters responded to 126 calls, 98 emergency medical and 28 fire/rescue, Feb. 18 to 24.

30Smoke was reported on the second floor of a multifamily dwelling in the 7300 block of North Port Washington Road, Glendale, at 3:29 p.m. Feb. 23. The sprinkler system was activated and firefighters reported "moderate smoke" coming from a trash room caused by an electrical device left on the floor. That device was not plugged in. Extensive water damage was reported on the first and second floors but no injuries were reported.

31Firefighters responded after a smoke detector sounded at The Shul Center, 8825 N. Lake Drive, Bayside, at 12:23 p.m. Feb. 24. The detector was set off because a catering company was using a turkey fryer inside the building. They were "educated" regarding safety issues with the fryer and told it had to be outside and at least 10 feet from the structure.
