Police Report: April 23

1Two Milwaukee women, 46 and 20, were arrested for theft and the older woman also for driving with a suspended license after taking clothing from Old Navy, 9094 N. Green Bay Road, at 1:30 p.m. April 7. The women hid more than $200 of items in their purses, left the store and drove away followed by police. They saw the younger woman throwing clothing out her window. When stopped, police asked her why and she said, "I don't know what you're talking about."

2A 54-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft and obstruction for giving a false name and a 47-year-old Milwaukee man for theft and a warrant after taking clothing valued at more than $370 from Old Navy, 9094 N. Green Bay Road, at 11:30 a.m. April 12. The man hid a jacket under his shirt and the woman hid clothing under "her girdle" and in her purse. She admitted taking the items saying they were Easter gifts for her granddaughter. She also admitted stealing in the past to support her drug habit but now said she no longer uses drugs.

3An ATM card and $60 cash and an 18-karat gold ring valued at $2,000 were taken from two men's lockers at the Rite Hite YMCA, 9250 N. Green Bay Road, between 1 and 2 p.m. April 12. Both lockers had been pried open.

4A 20-year-old Brown Deer woman was arrested for battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct while armed all domestic violence related in the 8200 block of North 46th Street at 9 p.m. April 12. The woman hit a man, a relative, on the head with his laptop computer destroying it, punched him and then threatened him with a knife. Damage was $300.

5A 55-year-old Brown Deer man was taken into protective custody for "alcohol incapacitation" in the 8700 block of North Deerwood Drive at 7 p.m. April 13. The man was found passed out in a bed and when he came to was incoherent. His preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.383.

6A 21-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for battery at Park View Pub, 7651 N. Teutonia Ave., at 1 a.m. April 14. He hit the bartender in the face and back of the head after an argument over a pool game. The man said it was self-defense because the bartender choked him.

7Two counterfeit $10 bills were found at Applebee's, 9080 N. Green Bay Road, at 11:30 p.m. April 14. When the bills were used was not known. They were turned over to the Secret Service.

8An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman, an employee, was arrested for theft and credit card crimes April 15 after taking a customer's credit card previously reported at Burger King, 5260 N. Port Washington Road, on March 27. The suspect had kept the customer's credit card and used it charging more than $150 at the restaurant and a clothing store.

9A 24-year-old Kiel, Wis., man was arrested for possession of heroin, with a prior conviction, a warrant and charges are pending for possession of drug paraphernalia, after he was found unconscious in the bathroom at BP Amoco, 525 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 4:45 p.m. April 13. He told a friend he was going to use the bathroom. When he didn't come out and the door was locked, that friend told an employee who forced open the door and found the man on the floor with a shoelace tied around his arm and two syringes and a spoon next to him. Both tested positive for heroin. The man was treated at a hospital.

10A 17-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested for theft, possession of a theft shielding device and obstruction for giving a false name at Boston Store, 5701 N. Lydell Ave., at 5 p.m. April 13. The girl had taken a pair of $72 jeans and fled. When stopped she was "loud and offensive using racial euphemisms." When told she was banned from Bayshore for life, she said she would "be in there any time she felt like it."

11A 41-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and possession of marijuana at Sears, 5900 N. Port Washington Road, at 6 p.m. April 14. The man took two bottles of men's cologne valued at $96 and told police he had to steal since his wife "spent all his money." The man had two plastic bags with 1.4 grams of marijuana in his pocket. He told police it wasn't marijuana but "a home remedy made from garlic and a bouillon cube" that he used for hypertension. It tested positive for marijuana.

12Two windows were found broken and entry gained to a residence in the 900 block of West Eula Court at 11:45 a.m. April 14. A used sewing machine and dresser were taken. The home was condemned by the city more than two years ago.

13A 20-year-old woman, residence not available, attempted to buy food with a counterfeit $100 bill at Buffalo Wild Wings, 590 W. Northshore Drive, at 9 p.m. April 19. The woman said her aunt gave her the bill to buy takeout food. The Secret Service is following up on the incident.


14A 26-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent, operating without a valid license, failure to have insurance and warned for speeding in the 2000 block of West Brown Deer Road at 4:50 p.m. April 21. The car, a 2001 Kia four-door, was reported stolen out of Milwaukee in October 2008. The woman said she had purchased the car but had no proof. A temporary license plate was in the back window but it was not found to be valid.


15The back window of a car was broken in the 3700 block of North Prospect Avenue sometime before noon April 14. Damage was $300.

16A bicycle valued at $200 was taken from a detached garage in the 2000 block of East Kensington Boulevard before 2 p.m. April 15. There was no sign of forced entry.

17A 41-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for drunken driving and failure to dim her high beam lights in the 1400 block of East Kenmore Place at 12:30 a.m. April 16. Another driver alerted police of a possible impaired driver and followed her from Interstate 43 into Shorewood.

18A 38-year-old Milwaukee woman was cited for trespassing after several complaints and a warning for refusing to leave the lobby of an apartment building in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue at midnight April 18.

19A $970 laptop computer was taken from an office at Nursing Consultation and Care Management LTD, 1425 E. Capitol Drive, about noon April 18.

20A smartphone, digital media player and headphones valued at $530 and $15 in Euros were taken from a boy's locker during a gym class at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, the morning of April 18. The boy could not remember if the locker was locked.

21Residents reported the theft of an ATM card in the 4400 block of North Wildwood Avenue on April 18. They reported the theft after it was used numerous times withdrawing more than $460 from a bank in Shorewood.

One domestic violence-battery arrest was reported this week.


22A counterfeit $100 bill was used at Sendik's, 500 E. Silver Spring Drive about 7:45 p.m. April 16. A 20-to 28-year-old woman, about 5'6" tall, passed the bill.

23A child's car seat valued at $300 was taken from a car near a loading dock in the 600 block of East Silver Spring Drive the morning of April 18.

24A smartphone valued at $300 was taken from an unlocked locker in the boys track locker room at Whitefish Bay High School, 1200 E. Fairmount Ave., late afternoon April 18.

25A 17-year-old Bayside girl, an 18-year-old Fox Point man and three other teens, ages and residences not available, were arrested for underage drinking after a 911 call reporting a girl screaming in the 4800 block of North Larkin Street at 11:15 p.m. April 21. The girl, who had an argument with her boyfriend, left with the boyfriend before police arrived.

26A 68-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for drunken driving, driving with a suspended license and suspended registration as he drove about 15 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 4800 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard and then pulled into a garage in the 100 block of East Chateau Place at 2:25 a.m. April 22. The man, who admitted having five beers but didn't think he was intoxicated, had a BAC of 0.11.

27A car was reported damaged in the 100 block of East Fairmount Avenue the afternoon of April 22. Dents and scratches were found on the roof and hood and the windshield had a large crack. Damage was estimated at $1,800.


Firefighters responded to 107 calls, 78 emergency medical and 29 fire/rescue, April 16 to April 22.

28Firefighters responded to a report of smoke in a third floor hallway of an apartment building in the 500 block of West Bradley Road, Fox Point, at 4 p.m. April 18. The stove had been turned on "unknowingly" to bake potatoes. Inside were burned foil/cardboard dishes. In addition, a pillow was found on the stove which was "for the cat to sleep on." The resident was told to remove the pillow, have the stove cleaned and inspected and remove a charcoal grill from the balcony.
