A 32-year-old West Allis man was arrested for drunken driving after swerving in traffic and speeding in the 8500 block of Interstate 43 at 12:30 a.m. March 10. The man admitted having five or six drinks at a Grafton bar and two or more at a friend's. His blood alcohol content was 0.12.

A resident found three gift cards on the ground at Brown Deer Road and Bayside Drive about 6:30 a.m. March 10. An investigation is ongoing to see if the cards were reported stolen.


A 15-year-old Brown Deer girl was mailed a citation Feb. 14 for disorderly conduct after she screamed profanities using sexually explicit language at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., about 3 p.m. Feb. 2. The school found a letter belonging to the girl with explicit sexual content. When asked about that letter, she said what she did sexually was "none of your damn business" and that she "hates this (expletive) school."

A 16-year-old Milwaukee boy was mailed a citation for disorderly content after causing a disturbance in a classroom at Brown Deer High School, 8060 N. 60th St., at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 14. The teacher told the class that her cellphone was missing and asked them to be quiet while she called her number in order to be able to hear it vibrate. The boy began to yell and move things around on his desk. He was then asked to go into the hall and he refused.

A 58-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft of shoes and sandals valued at over $270 from Kohl's, 9060 N. 60th St., at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 19. The man, who left the store with a woman and a boy, was found at a bus stop with two plastic bags. Inside were the stolen shoes. Also found was a pair of sandals hidden inside a sleeve of the juvenile's jacket. The man denied the theft saying, he bought the items "a while ago and hadn't gone home yet."

A 30-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for theft of tools and four aluminum wheels and tires valued at more than $1,300 taken from a relative's garage in the 4900 block of West Calumet Road sometime Feb. 20 to 24 and reported Feb. 26. Police found the items being offered for sale on Craigslist and went to the home of the seller in the 2300 block of West Clayton Crest Avenue, Milwaukee. The seller said he purchased the items for $250 from a man, whom he could identify. That man turned out to be a relative of the owner.

A 20-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for an Illinois warrant and theft of jewelry and a belt valued at $68 from Kohl's, 9060 N. Green Bay Road, at 1 p.m. March 6. The woman was seen taking earrings from a display and inserting them into her ears, taking a belt and putting that on and then putting jewelry into her purse. After being arrested, she admitted the theft and asked if she could keep the belt since she was being "honest about stealing."


A 16-year-old Bayside boy was arrested for drunken driving, possession of marijuana and unsafe driving after he backed his car into the median getting stuck in the snow in the 7300 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:40 p.m. March 2. The boy, at first, denied drinking but after failing field sobriety tests admitted having a vodka with his parents. The boy had 0.5 grams of marijuana in his jacket pocket. His BAC was 0.10.

A 17-year-old Fox Point girl was arrested for disorderly conduct/domestic after threatening a relative with a knife and pouring hot wax on that relative at 7:30 p.m. March 4. She said she was just trying to scare the other person.

A 19-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for possession of marijuana along with an 18-year-old Milwaukee man who was also arrested for driving after suspension and speeding about 40 mph in a 15 mph zone in the 8600 block of North Port Washington Road at 8 a.m. March 7. Marijuana blunts were found in the car.

A purse with $20 cash and credit cards was taken from a car in the 8600 block of North Port Washington Road within 10 minutes of 8 a.m. March 1. A window was broken to gain entry. About that same time, a car was reported speeding through the shopping center. Police followed it for a few blocks until the chase was called off. A short time later, a car matching that description pulled into La Quinta Inn, 5423 N. Port Washington Road, and three men got out and fled. That car, with Tennessee license plates, had been rented from Hertz in Florida Feb. 2. A GPS unit, DVD player, bank deposit slips and other items were found in the car.


A $4,000 14-karat gold and diamond ring was taken from an apartment in the 1700 block of West Bender Road sometime Jan. 31 to Feb. 27 and reported March 6.

Two Milwaukee women, 27 and 29, were arrested for theft from The Gap, 401 W. Northshore Drive, and Victoria's Secret, 5701 Centerpark Way, at noon March 2. The women were seen in The Gap filling a purse with items, leaving and driving off in a car. Inside the car, police recovered the 23 items taken from The Gap and 32 more items taken from Victoria's Secret with a total value of $1,058. The younger woman told police she had "only stolen from two stores" and that she was "forced to steal" because she had no job and had bills to pay.

A 16-year-old River Hills girl, and two Milwaukee males, 19 and 13, were arrested for theft of 11 items valued at $345 from Kohl's, 5650 N. Bayshore Drive, and other items valued at more than $250 from other Bayshore stores at noon March 3. The trio were seen at Kohl's putting items into a purse and leaving. When told to stop, the girl threw some clothing at security before the group fled in a car. In the car, police found the items taken from Kohl's, Children's Place, Champs and Sports Plus. The boy admitted taking one shirt because the 19-year-old, his uncle, told him to.

A 29-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for obstruction and theft from The Gap, 401 W. Northshore Drive, at 4:45 p.m. March 3. She and another woman put 14 items valued at $280 into a purse and then ran from the store followed by security and police. The suspect, who was on probation for theft, ran in a complete circle ending up back at The Gap where she tried to hide behind a table. When arrested, she began to cry saying, "I have money … just let me pay." When asked to identify the other woman, the suspect said she only knew her first name.

A 43-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft of four bottles of cologne valued at $266 from Sears, 5900 N. Port Washington Road, at 3 p.m. March 4. The man, who has an "extensive record," had four IDs belonging to others, one taken in a Milwaukee robbery Nov. 23. He admitted abusing "heroin and alcohol" and said he took the cologne to sell in order to buy drugs.

A 15-year-old Glendale boy was mailed a disorderly conduct citation after he slapped and head-butted another student at Nicolet High School, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road, at 1:30 p.m. March 6.

A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 0.3 grams of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, with three prior convictions, and no insurance in the 5800 block of North Port Washington Road at 10 p.m. March 6. The man, with car windows opened, drove by a squad car and the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the man's car. The man admitted smoking the drug to relieve stress but said there was none in the car. When the marijuana was found in the driver's door, the man said he didn't know where it came from.

A 43-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, driving after suspension, with three prior convictions, open intoxicants, no insurance and nonregistration in the 6000 block of North Port Washington Road at 12:10 a.m. March 7. The man's pants were wet and he admitted urinating in them. His blood alcohol content was 0.24.

A $400 watch was taken from an unsecured men's locker at Le Club, 2001 W. Good Hope Road, within 15 minutes of 7 p.m. March 7. The man had placed the watch in his locker and turned away to speak with some friends. When he turned back, the watch was gone.

A video game console was taken from the 300 block of West Coventry Court during the day March 8. A bedroom window was found smashed. No information was available on the value of the item or the amount of damage.

A man, age not listed, was arrested for possession of 3.8 grams of marijuana at LaQuinta Inn, 5110 N. Port Washington Road, at 4:40 p.m. March 8. Cleaning personal had found the drug in the man's room an hour before. Police were alerted, and when the man returned to his room, he was arrested.


No reportable incidents


A batting cage valued at $2,835 was reported taken from Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, on March 6. The theft happened between July 2011 and early 2012.

A $200 tablet, a $150 digital camera and a debit card were taken from the 3800 block of North Prospect Avenue on March 6 or 7. The card was used to buy $23 of gasoline.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, suspended registration and refusal to take a breath test in the 1500 block of East Capitol Drive at 2 a.m. March 7.

A 57-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for theft from Sendik's, 4027 N. Oakland Ave., at 12:30 p.m. March 9. The woman had loaded a cart with $242 of items and as she was being checked out said she wasn't feeling well and could someone help her load the groceries into her car. As that was happening, the checker realized she hadn't paid. The woman said she had forgotten her check book and would call with a credit-card number. She left with one bag of groceries and was stopped by police.

A man and woman, both 22 of Shorewood, were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a report of marijuana odor coming from an apartment in the 4200 block of North Wilson Drive at 9:15 p.m. March 9. Police confiscated marijuana, weight not yet available, and two pipes with residue.

A window pane was found broken in the 3500 block of North Hackett Avenue the afternoon of March 10. Eggs had also been thrown at the home. The amount of damage was not available.


A resident reported the theft of a painting March 9 after it was given to a Shorewood man on consignment, along with two other paintings, in the 5900 block of North Shore Drive on Dec. 25. The Shorewood man returned two of the paintings but kept one saying he thought he had a buyer. When it wasn't returned, the resident called police. The painting was valued at $30,000. The case is under investigations both in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood.

Two bicycles were taken from a rack at Whitefish Bay Middle School, 1144 E. Henry Clay St., during the day March 5 and early evening March 7. The first bike was valued at $500. The second was an older bike valued at $30.

A 32-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, suspended registration and speeding 51 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 1200 block of East Hampton Avenue at 1:45 a.m. March 8. The man, who said he was trying to get home and didn't think he was going that fast, denied drinking at first but then said he had two beers. His BAC was 0.17.

A 64-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for trespassing, four outstanding warrants and theft at Sendik's, 500 East Silver Spring Drive, at 12:30 p.m. March 8. The man had taken $362 worth of groceries and liquor and attempted to flee. He was turned over to a Milwaukee County sheriff on the warrants.

A 12-year-old Milwaukee boy was mailed a citation for disorderly conduct/fighting after a passer-by waved down a squad car to report that a group of juveniles were "readying to fight" in the 1000 block of East Fairmount Avenue at 3:25 p.m. March 8. The boy reportedly hit another boy.

A 30-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for drunken driving, failure to stop for an emergency vehicle and incorrect placement of the registration tag in the 300 block of West Hampton Avenue at 1:20 a.m. March 10. A 35-year-old Glendale man, a passenger, was cited for failure to wear a seat belt and failure to notify a change of address. The driver's BAC was 0.14.

A 20-year-old West Allis man was arrested for underage drinking, failure to display registration and violation of his driver's license restrictions while driving a motorcycle in the 4400 block of North Lake Drive at 2 a.m. March 10.

A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct, a warrant and a felony drug charge after a resident reported teenagers having a hot tub party possibly without the owner's permission in the 1000 block of East Hampton Road at 9:30 p.m. March 10. The owners had given permission.


Firefighters responded to 116 calls, 87 emergency medical and 29 fire/rescue, March 5 to March 11.

Firefighters responded to a report of a carbon monoxide alarm sounding in the 7900 block of North Range Line Road, River Hills, at 1:35 a.m. March 5. A reading of 160 ppm was found in the basement caused when fireplace embers dropped through a trap door and the vent was blocked. No injuries were reported. The resident was to have his fireplace and vents checked.

Residents reported heavy smoke in an apartment hallway in the 1200 block of West Silver Spring Drive, Glendale, at 12:15 a.m. March 9. Firefighters could hear the smoke detectors sounding inside an apartment but when no one answered the door they forced entry. Heavy smoke filled that apartment caused by burning food in the oven. The resident did wake up and no injuries were reported.
