1A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft of more than $12,000 from her employer, Old Country Buffet, 6538 W. Brown Deer Road, from May 2010 to Aug. 7, 2011. The woman, a cashier, admitted the thefts saying her "goal" was to take $80 to $100 each day. When people paid her, she only rang up some of the money keeping the rest for herself. The theft was discovered in part when one of her relatives called to report she was stealing to pay for her drug habit.

2A 46-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, a parole violation and a warrant at Kohl's, 9060 N. Green Bay Road, at 7:15 p.m. Aug. 23. The woman admitted taking three pairs of Nike shoes, valued at $150, for her grandchildren because "their mother didn't buy them anything." She also said she hadn't stolen in "quite sometime." A crack pipe was found in her purse but she said it wasn't her purse although it was her pipe and that she smoked crack everyday.

3A 19-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug trafficking place after a search warrant was executed in the 9300 block of North 60th Street on Aug. 24. During the investigation which occurred over many months, the man was seen allegedly selling drugs from his car to a man on a bicycle in the 400 block of West Wahner Avenue on June 30. On Aug. 24, when police arrived at his residence, the man called out to his mother, "Mom, get me a lawyer." Police found corner cut plastic bags, a scale, cigar wrappers and more than 13 grams of marijuana. In addition, marijuana residue was located under his bed, on his dresser and shelves and the closet floor.

4A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of 0.6 grams of marijuana after his car was stopped for a burned out headlight in the 8600 block of North 60th Street at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 26. The man was shaking and sweating. He admitted there was marijuana in the car.

5A 49-year-old Mequon man was arrested for drunken driving, refusal to take a breath tests and warned for lane deviation in the 4900 block of West Good Hope Road at 2:15 a.m. Aug. 31. When asked about his erratic driving, he said, "I didn't deviate. I was over here and you were …" and he stopped talking. He was held for a mental evaluation. His preliminary blood alcohol content was 0.09.


A resident reported his personal information was used to open lines of credit and make purchases at various stores in Illinois Aug. 24. Items worth $700 were purchased at a Walmart and a line of credit of $4,000 was issued at a Sears. The resident is not responsible for any charges.

6A car was driven half way up a driveway and slammed into a lamppost causing $1,000 damage in the 6400 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard before 3:45 p.m. Aug. 29. The driver fled the scene.


7A 24-year-old Milwaukee man attempted to cash a $1,000,000 bill at the UW Credit Union, 6016 N. Port Washington Road, at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 26. The man told a teller he wanted the bill "broken down" and she asked him if he was kidding. He said no and left but was traced through his license plate. On Sept. 1, police met the man at his home and he handed them the bill saying he found it in the street. It was a religious document advertising a ministry.

8A 60-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia and a 56-year-old Milwaukee man for theft and a warrant at Pick 'n Save, 1735 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 26. The men took a package of catfish and cheddar cheese valued at about $12 and were stopped as they tried to leave the store. The older man, who was found with three crack pipes, said he only smokes crack "once in a while." The men also had other people's IDs which will be returned to their owners.

9A woman reported she was the victim of an attempted strong-armed robbery as she left work in the 5400 block of North Port Washington Road at 8 p.m. Aug. 26. A man, about 30, grabbed her purse but she held on and he ran off calling back to her: "That's all right. I know where you work at."

10A lawn mower was taken from an open garage in the alley behind the 5600 block of North Braeburn Lane at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 27. A neighbor saw a man about 45 driving an older green cargo van take the mower and drive off. The resident was outside doing yard work and also heard the truck.

11A 57-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving, failure to have insurance and driving with a suspended license, with a prior conviction, after police saw her driving without a front tire in the 4400 block of North Port Washington Road at 11:20 p.m. Aug. 27. The woman, who admitted drinking wine and beer, said she thought someone slashed her tire. Her BAC was 0.16.

12A 16-year-old Glendale boy was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and underage drinking and a 50-year-old Glendale man for disorderly conduct and obstruction after the boy called police to report his stepdad had hit him in the 600 block of West Apple Tree Road at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 27. The boy had been at a party and told police he "gets high and drunk" and was a member of a gang. He was found with marijuana and a pipe with residue. The man refused to answer questions and later apologized to police for his behavior.

13Two 16-year-old Milwaukee boys were arrested for theft and one for obstruction after they took two display phones valued at $280 each at Verizon Wireless, 5790 N. Port Washington Road, about 5:15 p.m. Aug. 28. They ran from the store and "ditched" the phones before being caught. Both phones were located at a nearby restaurant.

14Two Milwaukee women, 20 and 21, were arrested for theft at Boston Store, 5701 N. Lydell Ave., at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 30. The women put clothing valued at $224 into booster bags and tried to flee. One woman said she needed the clothes for her daughter who was returning to school and the other said she intended to sell the clothes to another woman.

15A 22-year-old Glendale man was arrested for possession of a drug pipe and failure to notify police of an accident after driving into a ditch and walking away in the 6500 block of North Bethmaur Lane at 2:20 a.m. Aug. 31. A witness saw the man get out of the car and walk through the yard. He was found at his home in the next block and denied driving saying it was a friend. The pipe was found in his pocket and the man admitted to smoking marijuana.

16Two 14-year-old boys and an 18-year-old man, all of Shorewood, were arrested for forgery after one of the boys forged a signature on a stolen check for $400 and the 18-year-old cashed it at North Shore Bank, 3970 N. Oakland Ave., the morning of Aug. 25. That check had been taken during a burglary in the 2500 block of East Wood Place a few hours before.

17Five Milwaukee boys, 11 to 14, were arrested for theft and trespassing after a report of them taking two bicycles from an open garage in the 2100 block of East Menlo Boulevard at 7 p.m. Aug. 29. A witness saw the boys take the bikes and called police. They all ran but were caught and one bike was recovered.

18Two Milwaukee men, 19 and 20, were arrested for prowling after reports of them walking onto private property and up driveways in the 4200 block of North Ardmore Avenue at 12 a.m. Aug. 29.

19A customer prepaid $20 for gasoline but gave the wrong pump number to the 17-year-old Shorewood clerk at Citgo, 1602 E. Capitol Drive at 1 p.m. Aug. 29. While another customer drove up and pumped the free gas, the man realized his mistake and asked the clerk for his money back but the clerk told him to get it from the other driver. However, after police arrived and the owner contacted, the man got his money back.

20A $1,000 laptop computer was taken from an unlocked classroom at Shorewood High School,1701 E. Capitol Drive, about 8:45 a.m. Aug. 31. The theft, caught on surveillance video, showed a man about 30 with a slim build take the laptop.

21A 16-year-old Shorewood boy was arrested for underage drinking at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1.


22A hammer drill and a case of drill bits valued at $1,500 were taken from a construction trailer at Lake Drive and Cumberland Boulevard during the day Aug. 26.

A 30-year-old Whitefish Bay woman reported an attempted fraud after she thought she had been hired by nanniesforhire.com Sept. 1. She received a check from Janine Kwapis in London, England for $2,850 and was told to cash it and return $1,000 to the sender. She did not send the money.

23A 23-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for drunken driving, nonregistration and refusal to take a breath test in the 4800 block of North Marlborough Drive at 1 a.m. Sept. 2.

Police responded to one domestic violence incident this week.
