1A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for theft of an unknown number of sodas in December from an employee refrigerator in the Brown Deer Village Hall break room, 4800 W. Green Brook Drive, on Jan. 4. The thefts were discovered after an employee reported her 24-ounce bottle of soda was taken. The man admitted taking the sodas but said he was told it was OK.

2A purse with a wallet holding debit and credit cards, $150 cash and six Percocet pills was taken from a woman's locker at the YMCA, 9250 N. Green Bay Road, the afternoon of Jan. 20 and reported Jan. 21.

3An 18-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested Jan. 27 for violating no-smoking rules at Holiday Inn Express, 4443 W. Schroeder Drive, on Jan. 22 and 23. The woman checked in showing her ID and after checking out, employees reported the room was "extremely dirty" with an "overwhelming odor of marijuana and cigarettes." Cigar and cigarette butts along with traces of marijuana blunts were found on the floor, carpeting, tables and in cups scattered around the room and "excessive dried dirt" was found in the bathtub. The room had to be fumigated for three days. The suspect was located at her Milwaukee home and admitted renting the room but denied she had stayed there saying "friends" had been there. The friends' names were not available.

4A 23-year-old Germantown man was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, and driving while suspended in the 6000 block of West Dear Road at 1:15 a.m. Jan. 23. He failed field sobriety tests and when asked to take a preliminary breath test said "I don't really think I want to do that" offering to retake the field tests. His blood alcohol content was 0.14.

5Items valued at more than $500 including a starter pistol, two walkie-talkies and a training collar with remote were taken from a car in the 8300 block of North 50th Street on Jan. 25 or 26. No damage was reported.

6An attempted scam was reported at Yankee Candle, 5681 N. Bayshore Drive, at 9 p.m. Jan. 21. An employee received a call from "Carlos" of "corporate" saying that a customer lost her wallet at the store and he was sending someone to pick up $1,300 to give to the woman. The employee locked the business and a short while later someone knocked on the shop's door. A similar scam was reported in Mequon a few weeks ago.

7Police were called to a fight at Silver Spring House, 6655 N. Green Bay Ave., at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 22. About eight men were fighting in a rear dining room with at least one of them swinging a chair. More than $300 damage was reported to chairs and a window. The men involved all left before police arrived.

8Four wheels and four tires valued at $2,795 were taken from a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe at Andrew Chevrolet, 1500 W. Silver Spring Drive, on Jan. 22 or 23. The vehicle was found on paving blocks with the wheels and tires gone but lug nuts left behind.

9A 41-year-old Glendale woman was arrested for hit and run after she ran into another car and fled the scene at Bender Road and Milwaukee River Parkway at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23. The woman was followed to the 200 block of West Coventry Court where she pulled into an underground garage. Her car was badly damaged with the air bag deployed. When police arrived, she was still in her car talking on a cell phone. The amount of damage was not available.

10A 60-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft of a pair of designer frames valued at $380 from Pearle Vision, 695 W. Silver Spring Drive, at 11:45 a.m. Jan. 24. The woman was seen putting the frames in her purse and then staying for her eye exam. She admitted the theft saying she had no money to buy the frames.

11A 45-year-old West Allis woman was arrested for driving under the influence, with a prior conviction, after witnesses reported her weaving in traffic near the 1500 block of West Silver Spring Drive at 5:45 a.m. Jan. 25. The woman, who said she was on various medications including Ambien, was taken for a blood draw.

12Four Milwaukee boys, 16 and 17, were arrested for theft and/or being party to the crime of theft of clothing valued at more than $250 from Boston Store, 5701 N. Lydell Ave., at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 25. The boys ran from the store with the clothing and three were stopped within blocks but one boy, 16, ran west followed by a squad car and then back into the mall area where he was tackled by a witness.

13A 55-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for indecent exposure after exposing himself and urinating on the floor just inside the men's room near the food court at Bayshore Town Center, 5800 N. Bayshore Drive, at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 25. An employee had blocked off the men's room to clean it and as the man entered told him to use the restroom just across the hall. He made no effort to do so and defended his actions because he "had to urinate so bad."

14A 23-year-old Glendale man was arrested for drunken driving, with a prior conviction, after being stopped for expired registration in the 6100 block of North Green Bay Avenue at 2 a.m. Jan. 26. The man said he started to drink at 1 a.m. and had three beers. His BAC was 0.13.

15A 14-year-old Milwaukee boy was cited for theft and a 15-year-old Milwaukee boy for party to the crime of theft of a snow shovel taken from a garage in the 5700 block of North Sievers Place at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 27. A resident saw the boy take the shovel and called police. The boy denied stealing the shovel saying he found it in the street.

16A 16-year-old River Hills boy was arrested for theft of a bottle of vodka from Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., at 10 a.m. Jan. 21.

17A 44-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for theft of food and liquor valued at $70 from Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 22. The woman concealed cereal, a can of dog food, tweezers, cough drops, brandy and other items in her clothing and tried to leave the store.

18Two 13-year-old Shorewood boys were cited for theft of four bottles of Mike's Hard Lemonade from Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25. The boys were identified that afternoon at a basketball game at Shorewood Intermediate School, 3830 N. Morris Blvd. They were turned over to their parents.

19A 20-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for two incidents of theft of liquor from Pick 'n Save, 4145 N. Oakland Ave., on Jan. 22 and 24. Each time he took from one to two bottles of liquor valued from $25 to $50.

20Eleven boys and girls, 15 to 18, of Shorewood and Milwaukee, were issued citations for truancy, some habitual, from Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, on Jan. 26. The students missed from 19 to 29 days from Nov. 15 to Dec. 16.

21A 28-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for disorderly conduct after he was reported staggering, yelling and intoxicated at Oakland and Edgewood avenues at 12:45 a.m. Jan. 27.


• A resident reported a possible fraud or scam after sending $1,700 to purchase dishes over the Internet from a Porter Ranch, Calif., company Jan. 24. The check was cashed but no dishes received.

22A 19-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, failure to stop at a sign and lacking proof of insurance at Henry Clay Street and Ardmore Avenue at 2:10 a.m. Jan. 26. His BAC was 0.13.

23A 19-year-old Downers Grove, Ill., man was arrested for drunken driving and speeding over 40 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 4900 block of North Lake Drive at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 27. An 18-year-old Waukesha woman, a passenger, was arrested for underage drinking. Her BAC was 0.151; his was 0.09.

• A resident reported receiving over 12 calls informing him he had won the Publisher's Clearing House prize and to receive the money he needed to send $500 Jan. 27. When the resident confronted the caller saying this was a scam, the caller threatened to kill him. The call came from the 876 area code which is Kingston, Jamaica.


• Firefighters responded to 123 calls, 92 emergency medical and 31 fire/rescue Jan. 24 to Jan. 30.
