Weyenberg Library announces holiday and 2010 hours

Mequon - The Frank L. Weyenberg Library, 11345 N. Cedarburg Road, will be closed today, Friday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for holiday observances.

Starting Jan. 2, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This marks a change from previous openings at 9 a.m.

Kathleen Eggert artwork on display at Anaba Tea Room

Shorewood - A self-taught artist, Kathleen Eggert has developed her own techniques for firing enamels on glass for more than 20 years. Her work has been widely exhibited internationally and is included in the collection of the Corning Museum.

Kathleen's works are sandblast carved from half-inch or thicker plate glass panels, and layers of powdered enamels are applied in multiple firings to achieve luminous color of great depth.

The display can be seen at Anaba Tea Room, located in the lower level of Garden Room, 2107 East Capitol Drive.

Anaba is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Yoga Center offers a chance to try out yoga

Shorewood - The Milwaukee Yoga Center's annual Yoga Festival is Jan. 31 with free classes designed for those new to yoga and also for those with experience. Classes will be held from 1 to 2 and from 3 to 4 p.m. with an open house and free music following the classes from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Celebrate the Feast of Three Kings à la française

Shorewood - Join the Alliance Française de Milwaukee for its annual Holiday Party and Feast of Three Kings potluck dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Jan. 9.

Celebrate the holidays à la française with a delicious potluck buffet of international dishes and hors d'oeuvres. The Alliance Française will provide drinks, the galettes, and crowns! The cost is $5 for AF members, $10 for nonmembers and free for kids younger 18. RSVP by Jan. 8 at (414) 964-3855.

Bay Choirs to perform pops concert Downtown

Whitefish Bay - Three Whitefish Bay High School Choirs will perform "From Broadway to the Magic Kingdom!" a concert featuring some of the world's best pop songs along with a mix of Broadway and Disney tunes. Concert and silent auction will take place at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 and 9, in downtown Milwaukee at the Humphrey Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 790 N. Van Buren St.

The January Pops Concert features Whitefish Bay High School's extra-curricular choirs: Tower Singers, That Group and Cantorei.

During intermission guests will be invited to enjoy complimentary dessert, buy flowers for the performers and browse a silent auction. Cash or checks only will be accepted. Proceeds will support the Whitefish Bay High School choir program.

Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for students/seniors, and all seating is reserved.

Club continues its 100th season with a concert

Fox Point - The MacDowell Club of Milwaukee presents Performers' Choice, at 3 p.m. Jan. 10 in the Nancy Kendall Theater located in the Joan Steele Stein Center for Communication/Fine Art at Cardinal Stritch University, 6801 North Yates Road.
