Nathan and Lisa (Augustine) Godshaw of Wauwatosa are the parents of Trenton Marshall Godshaw, born Jan. 12, 2012. He weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 22 inches long. Grandparents are Barry and Faye Godshaw of Brown Deer and Dane and Gilda Augustine of Terlingua, Texas.


Brian Bohl of Whitefish Bay has been elected editor-in-chief of the Wisconsin Law Review at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School.

Mallory Elver of Whitefish Bay was named a Founders Scholar for 2012, for a GPA of 3.8 or higher, at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Micah Leinbach, a 2010 graduate of Whitefish Bay High School, has been selected as a 2012 Udall Scholar by the Udall Foundation on the basis of commitment to a career in the environment, health care or tribal public policy; leadership potential; and academic achievement. Leinbach is attending Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore.

Chloe Drapes of Shorewood earned her second-year letter for participation in women's swimming at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Mark Jacobus of Shorewood has accepted an invitation to join the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.


The following students were winners in the 2012 Young People's Art Exhibit in April and will have their artwork displayed in the lobby of the Wisconsin Exposition Center during the 2012 Wisconsin State Fair: from Brown Deer High School, Megan Kozak, senior third place for "Crooked Lake," and Mouamong Yang, senior third place for "Dark Thinker"; from Dominican High School, Rose Camara, best drawing for "Steam Punk Furnace"; from Glen Hills Middle School, Kai Rune, junior first place for "Tiger with Prairie"; from Maple Dale School, Will Egan-Waukan, jewelry award for "Sunset"; and from Nicolet High School, Margaret Dykstra, senior first place for "House," Paulina Varela, senior first place for "Uncertainty," Anna Olla, senior first place for "The Skyline," Jake Currie, special needs third place for "The Smiling Cat," Robert Dietz, jewelry award for "Pendant 1," and Kindla du Plessis, superintendent's award for "Night Ride, AKA No Man's Land."

North Shore residents Jack Kinkbeil of Mequon, Estée Tanel O'Conner of Fox Point and Joe Gallo of Shorewood performed in Pius XI High School's production of "Phantom of the Opera" at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee in April.

John Casey of Mequon, a student at University School of Milwaukee in River Hills, and Monique Ma of Thiensville, a student at Homestead High School, earned corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards based on their scores on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Air Force Airman Jessica S. Poserio graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Poserio is the daughter of Ferdinand and Gloria Ramos of Brown Deer. She earned an associate degree in 2008 from Cardinal Stritch University in Glendale.


Jerome R. McGinnis and his company, Mequon-based Embassy Homes, were honored by the Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation Inc. with the Partners in Excellence Award in March. McGinnis is the chairman and CEO of Embassy Homes, a custom home-building company founded in 1961. The award is given annually to a local corporation, foundation or individual who has contributed significantly to the success of MATC and the foundation. McGinnis has been a longtime supporter of the MATC Foundation as a board member and donor, currently serving as a vice president. He received a much-needed scholarship as a college student, which motivated him to give back to others in the same way; McGinnis and Embassy Homes have provided scholarships to many MATC students in skilled trades.

The Civic Music Association of Milwaukee has awarded the following music education awards for 2012: Dain Shuler of Thiensville, director of bands at the University School of Milwaukee, earned the award for excellence in instrumental music instruction; and Samantha Cruz of Glendale, a music specialist at Cumberland School in the Whitefish Bay School District, earned the award for excellence in general music instruction.
