William Boppre of Glendale earned his master's degree in exercise and sport science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in January.

Maria Linn of Shorewood made the fall semester dean's list at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.

Andrew Seidner of Shorewood made the fall semester dean's list at Emory College in Atlanta, Ga.


The following students from the North Shore earned the $1,000 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Excellence Scholarship for excellence in academics and high motivation to achieve, activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond: Seamus Caragher of Whitefish Bay, at Marquette University High School in Milwaukee; Kindia du Plessis of Glendale, at Nicolet High School; Kristin Enea of Whitefish Bay, at Whitefish Bay High School; Jessica Hayes of Mequon, at Homestead High School; Nikhil Ramnarayan of Mequon, at Homestead High School; and Mikaela Zetley of Fox Point, at Nicolet High School. Also, Kayla Strothers of Brown Deer, at Brown Deer High School, earned the $1,000 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Initiative Scholarship for exceptional initiative in the classroom and strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.

The following teachers have each been named a 2012 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellow: Debra Logman of Whitefish Bay, a teacher at St. Eugene School in Fox Point; Sachin Pandya of Wauwatosa, a teacher at Lake Bluff Elementary School in Shorewood; Marianne Wallach of Mequon, a teacher at Homestead High School in Mequon; and Andrea Winkle of Saukville, a teacher at Nicolet High School in Glendale. Fellowship recipients are chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each fellow's school will receive a $1,000 grant.


The following children from the North Shore performed in the First Stage Young Company production of William Shakespeare's "The Winter Tale" in Milwaukee in early March: Garrett Hanson of Bayside as Antigonus/Autolycus; Emmie Mandel of Mequon as Perdita/second lady; Kelly Venable of Mequon as Archidamus/Paulina; Julia Rothacker of Whitefish Bay as Camillo; and Laura Troshynski of Whitefish Bay as Hermione/Dorcas.
