The following graduates earned bachelor's degrees, or other degrees as noted, from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in December: from Brown Deer, Erik Noll, accounting, magna cum laude, and Melissa Zemel, early childhood education; and from Mequon, Christopher Depies, general business, Brian Gensrick, sociology, and Richard Kositzke, master's degree in business administration.
Kellie Bireley of Mequon earned her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Kansas in Lawrence in December.
Rachel Coats of Glendale and Hannah Tiedt of Whitefish Bay made the fall semester honor lists at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Rebecca Dulle of Mequon, a senior studying elementary education at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., performed with the Augustana Choir during a two-week concert tour in Germany and Austria in late February.
Alexander Thomas of Mequon made the fall semester dean's list at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.
Carolyn Long, an eighth-grader at St. Monica School in Whitefish Bay, won her school's Spelling Bee for the third year in a row and was first runner-up at the regional Spelling Bee held at Brookfield Academy on Feb. 7.
Nicolet High School junior Michelle Tong, daughter of Juhua Peng and Jiajie Tong of Glendale, earned an all-expense-paid trip to Mexico through the Spanish Honor Society and American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
Air Force Reserve Airman Christopher R. Karlson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Karlson earned distinction as an honor graduate. The son of Julia Karlson of Brown Deer, the airman is a 2006 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee.
