Stephen Humphrey of Racine, son of John Humphrey of Whitefish Bay and Ruth Rademacher of Racine, earned his doctorate in medicine in May from The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, prior to which he earned his bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of Notre Dame in 2007. Jennifer DeRoche, a senior at Whitefish Bay High School, is the recipient of a University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music scholarship for four years of study toward a music degree.
Rosemary Stuart of Whitefish Bay, professor of biological sciences at Marquette University in Milwaukee, has been named the university's 2011 recipient of the Lawrence G. Haggerty Award for Research Excellence for her research in mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes. She is the first faculty member to have received both the Haggerty Award and a Teaching Excellence Award (2008) from the university. Stuart, who received a $5,000 stipend with this award, earned her doctorate from Ludwig-Maximillians Universität in München, Germany, and her bachelor's and master's degrees from University College in Dublin, Ireland.
