The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness. For more than 128 years, WHS has been saving the lives of animals in need. We offer adoption services that place 9,000 animals in new homes annually, veterinary services that save thousands of lives, educational programs that instill respect for animals, behavior services to assist guardians and a myriad of other initiatives that help end suffering for animals. We depend entirely on private donations to fund our programs and rely on volunteers in nearly every department. If you are interested in adopting, volunteering, enrolling in a class, taking a tour or making a donation, check out our comprehensive web site at wihumane.org. The adoptable animals' web pages are updated every 30 minutes!
Wisconsin Humane Society launches Operation Troops & Tails
Adoption fees just $25 for military veterans
The Wisconsin Humane Society is offering adoption discounts to veterans and members of the armed forces this Veteran’s Day weekend. “Operation Troops & Tails” allows servicemen and women, past and present, to adopt a companion animal for just $25 beginning on Friday, November 8 through Monday, November 11.
This program was inspired by local philanthropist Stan Kass, who has made several generous contributions to the organization over the past years and is providing the financial support to make Operation Troops & Tails possible.
The promotion applies to all adult dogs, puppies, and kittens at the shelter’s Milwaukee, Racine and Saukville locations. As always, adopters name their own fee for adult cats. All animals currently available for adoption can be viewed at www.wihumane.org.
All adopters must have photo identification and proof of address. Additionally, troops and veterans must show valid military I.D. or proof of military service bearing their name in order to receive the discount.
*Please note that the Racine Campus is closed on Sundays and the Milwaukee and Ozaukee locations are closed on Mondays.
